LCD monitors are a great way to save space and obtain high-resolution graphics without the bulk, or lead to a CRT monitor. However, LCD monitors have drawbacks. One is what people call a "dead pixel". Basically, a dead pixel appears as a small black dot on your screen. A pixel have been also may be black, but can be blue, green or red, too.

The difference between a pixel is dead and stuck pixels subtle (ie the non-techies), but it is important to consider. A pixel stuck usually can be fixed, while a dead pixel can not be the result of hardware and can not be fixed. Anyway, try repairing your monitor or monitors will help you decide what it is. There are actually several ways to do this.

Massage, pressure or tapping:

1. Turn off the monitor. If you are using a laptop, you must turn off all equipment.
2. Put gentle pressure on the dead pixel with your finger or end of a pencil eraser. If you're worried about stains or scratches, get a clean, damp cloth. Protect your screen while you do this and not put too much pressure.
3. Turn the power again.
4. Gently rub the place where the dead pixel until the color begins to change. You may have to do this for between several minutes several times within an hour. A variant of this method is to tap the area where it is pixels, with a black background instead. And remember, always kind to the screen or cause him harm.
5. When the pixel is repaired, use a white background to ensure that is the correct color.

Color flashing

1. Download a freeware program flash color. These are specifically designed to stimulate the pixel dead, and those around her. One such program is a small, blinking rapidly, which can be dragged around the pixel.
2. Leave the program running for at least 1 hour. If at the end of that time, the pixel is stuck or dead, may have to use a full screen version and let it run both and noon (12 hours).

This is very important to understand that neither method is guaranteed to work. Trial and error can yield the results you want, but you could be stuck with that annoying dead pixels. Also, if you will try to send the replacement monitor under warranty, I understand that a dead pixel is not considered following the replacement by most manufacturers.

Of course, many users are not bothered by a dead pixel, especially if you have two monitors or a large monitor and dead or stuck pixel is only one pixel in a sea and space. It helps, however, start with a quality LCD monitor, so be sure to buy a reputable brand. HP LCD monitors, LCD monitors from Samsung and Sony LCD monitors are just some of the reliable brands. Remember, if some off brand you've never heard of and the price seems too good to be true, it is. If you run into a stuck or dead pixel, processing instructions up and there's a decent chance you relive the pixel.
